Afton

Afton was established in 1854 in the southwest part of Iowa in Union County. Afton's small town atmosphere and close proximity to Interstate 35 and Des Moines make a it an ideal place for those who prefer a small community without the sacrifice of metropolitan areas near by.

Afton's Twelve Mile Lake is located just northwest of town and provides some of the finest recreational areas in the state. Twelve Miles Lake offers 880 acres of recreational area for waterskiing, fishing and camping.
