Types of Arrangements
Iowa Select Farms has contract finishing facilities throughout Iowa and offers farmers and others interested in swine production the opportunity to partner with us in various ways. The traditional grain or livestock farmer may provide the land and facilities, and is responsible for providing water and utilities. In these situations, the producer loads pigs in and out, manages the barns and the animals, maintains the barns, cleans the barns, disposes of the manure and insures the facilities. Other arrangements may have an independent contractor care for the pigs while other contractors or farmers conduct facility maintenance, manure disposal and other functions unrelated to animal care. Many of today's grain farmers have invested in facilities to obtain manure as a fertilizer source for their adjacent cropland and often hire caretakers or contractors to conduct the day-to-day activities at the swine farm. Whether you currently own a farm or are interested in getting involved in pig production as a part-time job, Iowa Select has many opportunities for you to explore.
What We Provide
Iowa Select Farms will provide the animals, feed, medication, transportation to and from the farms and dead animal disposal. Iowa Select provides the insurance on the animals and makes all marketing decisions. Iowa Select personnel will work with the producer or caretaker to provide guidance and technical support in any area of swine production.
