Polk County Fights Food Insecurity with OCM

posted on Tuesday, December 8, 2020

OCM1Feeding America estimates that more than 55,000 people in Polk County identify as food-insecure. One in five children in the county and one in eight adults go hungry every single day.

To fight hunger in their community, Polk County operate several food pantries including Polk County River Place Food Pantry—one our stops along this year’s Operation Christmas Meal pork loin giveaway for families in-need.

A huge shoutout to the volunteers who made unloading nearly 100 pork loins an absolute breeze! The protein-packed pork loins will make their way into monthly food baskets for local families in-need.

Once per calendar month, families can visit the pantry to receive a three-day supply of healthy, nutritional food and other essential non-food items.
