Ackley Hosts Veterans Pork Loin Giveaway

“On a Veterans Day like today, it makes you remember all of the sacrifices those guys made so that we could be here today, handing out pork loins,” said Dean Feikes, Iowa Select Farms’ employee, Ackley resident and proud son of a Korean War Veteran. “We’re really thankful for our veterans, especially today.”

This was our first ever Veterans Day Pork Loin Giveaway and boy, what a special day it was. We started the day in ACKLEY and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful morning to hand out 200 pork loin roasts to local veterans. In addition to Ackley, we also did giveaways in Creston, Dows and Cresco.

In Ackley, Dean and other Iowa Select Farms' employee volunteers, we were joined by Senator Annette Sweeney, BJ Hoffman, Hardin County Supervisor and members of the local Sons of The American Legion chapter.

The veterans that came through the line proudly wore their hats commemorating their service and were excited to receive their free roast. And we’ll be honest, there may have been a few tears of appreciation, happiness and respect amongst your employee volunteers. But, the one thing there was more of were smiles. What a great day!
