Altoona Kidsworld Day Care Received Little Farmer Toy Box Gift

“These toys, books and games are bright, fun and interactive,” said Alicia, a member of the Iowa Select Farms production accounting team who nominated her child’s day care for the newest initiative of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. “My day care provides a safe place for the kids to socialize, interact and learn while I am at work. I am thankful the Foundation chose to help a group so essential to my family.”
The day care providers at Altoona Kidsworld Day Care received a special toy box after Alicia nominated them to be a recipient of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Henry’s Heroes newest initiative–the Little Farmer Toy Box project.
"The toys mean the world to our kids,” said Annette Sauer “We can always use more toys, puzzles and color sheets. Iowa Select Farms is amazing for doing this for their employees who depend on their day cares daily. We hear nothing but wonderful things about Iowa Select Farms and how they truly care about their employees and that shows in a gift like this.”
“Giving back to day cares is not just about giving toys, but also sharing the stories of just how critical day cares are to Iowa’s workforce, said Ali, a representative of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. “Many do not know that some day cares have had to forgo investments in new toys to make it through the challenges of the last few years. This is just a way to help offset the costs of new toys for the day cares that mean so much to our employees.”
The Little Farmer Toy Box theme is one of Henry’s favorites and was inspired by his great-grandfather, Laurence Hansen, who built his life on his love of farming, especially John Deere tractors. His beloved 1976 John Deere 4430 was a staple in his operation, in fact it was referred to as the ‘Cadillac of tractors’ in its time.
In 2019, Henry’s grandfather, Jeff Hansen, restored it to its original state to celebrate Laurence’s 91st birthday. John Deere collector tractors like Laurence’s 1976 John Deere 4430 will be a part of every Little Farmer Toy Box.
