Big Stop for Power Snack in Storm Lake
posted on Monday, November 8, 2021
"The Power Snack program has filled a huge hole for families in our community," said Barb Lange, Principal of Storm Lake Elementary School. "With our large number of free/reduced lunch students - they are able to sustain food at their home - especially during long breaks from school. Thank you!"
Storm Lake, Iowa, right in the heart of Buena Vista County, was a big stop during Power Snack 2021.
We visited both Storm Lake Elementary and Storm Lake Middle School to help curb childhood hunger in this community.

The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms left the Storm Lake District with 4,700 Power Snack coupon booklets, valuing over $32,000 to support this community.
The Power Snack program supplies schools with coupons for $3 off a loaf of whole wheat bread and $5 off a pound of deli ham to help students with food insecurities make food at home over long breaks and weekends.
Additionally, we loaded these tornadoes full with 400 pork snack sticks to provide immediate hunger relief.
We have a few stops left today in Northwest Iowa. Check back to see where we go next!
