Celebrating People Care Leadership Program Graduation

“I’m so fortunate to have been a part of this,” said Juan, an assistant breeding department head for Iowa Select Farms. “This program has helped me to react in a better way to both family and work-related situations, also has allowed me to grow as human being by strengthening my values, humility and teamwork.”

Juan was one of 204 employees who recently graduated from one of two courses—“Leading Yourself” and “Leading Others"—offered in our People Care Leadership Program series. The program serves to nurture leadership and professional development throughout multiple levels in the company, offering something for just about anyone who wants to grow.

To celebrate the time and commitment of these employees who participated in the yearlong courses, we held a virtual graduation complete with a commencement ceremony.

And because we never take ourselves too seriously, we shared a lot of laughs and even witnessed a few surprise guest appearances--dogs, children and co-workers, too.

During the ceremony, each graduate had a chance to talk about the impact the program made on their work and personal life.

Zach, a low voltage tech, said the program brought about self-reflection and personal empowerment, especially given the tremendous responsibility animal caretakers have.

“Going to a farm every day where there is a huge responsibility placed on your shoulders because these animals are dependent on you for the three basic keys to life—feed, water and air—can be a lot,” he said. “We have to be at our best every day, there is no room for complacency in animal care.”

Led by our senior leaders, these year-long courses are structured around the Habitudes Growing Leaders series and paired with custom content tailored to our unique role in animal care and food production.

We’re grateful to our friends at Novus International for the great financial support of the program, this time kicking in to help us with the materials and graduation gifts shipped out in advance of the virtual ceremony.
