Big shout out Cerro Gordo County ISU Extension 4-H students for volunteering their time to organize meal kits for families and children served by Crisis Intervention Service in Mason City.
Crisis Intervention Service provides support to over 4,000 domestic and sexual abuse victims throughout the counties of Kossuth, Winnebago, Worth, Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek, Allamakee, Hancock, Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Chickasaw, Fayette, Clayton, Humboldt, Wright, Franklin, Butler, Bremer, Webster, Hamilton, Hardin, Grundy, Blackhawk, Buchanan, Delaware and Dubuque counties.
The effort was a part of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Ignite the Spirit Project, an extension of Operation Christmas Meal aimed at igniting the spirit of giving through youth service and leadership.
This holiday season the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation awarded 40 FFA, 4-H and school-based organizations in our communities two cases of pork loins and $250 to prepare a meal for families in need, or organize food baskets to distribute.
