Congratulations to Antonio Alvarez Valdivia on your Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leader Scholarship!

Antonio is a graduate of Ames High School. He is currently attending Iowa State University for Mechanical Engineering.

“My interest in Mechanical Engineering started at Ames High School, where I joined the local FIRST Robotics team, Team Neutrino,” says Antonio. He continues on to explain that “Agriculture impacts my life every day. It is the motor of civilizations, and even if we don’t realize it, agriculture is the central pillar of our lives. Science and technology are currently changing the way we will get food and live in the future with technology such as biofuels, enhanced crops, and precision agriculture.”

Antonio’s future goals are to continue his education and work towards a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.

Antonio worked part-time at Sow 10 from January 2017 to May 2018. Currently, Antonio’s dad, Jose Alvarez, works as Sow 25 Department Head. His mom, Rocio Valdivia-Jimenez, works at Sow 10 as a Technician.
