“I love that Iowa Select Farms is a family-oriented company that cares about its employees and helps the communities we live in,” said Don Stahl, a maintenance generator technician for Iowa Select Farms. “Since I started here, that aspect has never changed.”

Congratulations to Don, who is celebrating his 20 Years of Service with Iowa Select Farms.

As a maintenance team member, Don can attest first-hand to how busy they stay with the never-ending list of projects. But he says that’s what he enjoys most about his job.

“Every day brings a different and exciting challenge that needs to be taken care of,” he says. “I mainly work on tractors and generators, but often work on trailer brakes, JCB loaders, portable welders or anything else that may make its way to the shop.”

As we’re looking ahead toward the winter months, Don reflects on the many brisk nights he spent pushing snow at farms for livestock trailers to be able to move loads in and out or sanding in the freezing rain.

“I have met wonderful people over the years, many of whom I still work with today,” Don said. “The company has grown tremendously but continues to uphold its values.”

One of those values is our Community Care pillar. Don is grateful for the programs the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation run.

“I appreciate how the Foundation gives back to the communities where we live,” he said. “It’s great to see them visiting our food pantry, handing out coupons to our schools and giving out pork loins around the holidays.”

Don is especially thankful for the Henry’s Heroes program, which donated a Little Farmer Toy Box to his grandson’s daycare in Ackley this past spring.

Family is everything to Don. Together, he and his wife have two children. Their daughter and son-in-law have three boys, and their son and daughter-in-law have one boy and one girl. The five grandchildren range from two months to 14 years old. Needless to say, Don stays busy. He enjoys going on motorcycle rides with his wife, working on cars, visiting antique farm shows and, of course, watching his grandchildren play sports.

Don, we’re so lucky to have you!
