Congratulations to Graciela Alondra Melendez Reyes on your Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leader Scholarship!
Graciela is a graduate of Storm Lake St. Mary's High School and is pursuing a double major in Psychology and Spanish with a minor in Innovation at Buena Vista University.
“I have always been interested in the social sciences. During my senior year, I took two General Psych and Developmental Psych, which really sparked my interest in what influences human behavior. I grew up around Spanish my whole life, and although I am fluent, I know I can continue to learn and improve in it.,” explained Graciela. “After I obtain my diploma, I want to work in areas where I can help people, potentially in social services, health services, or schools. I especially want to help those whom English is not their first language, to help serve as an interpreter/translator and guide for the Spanish-speaking community.”
Graciela is the daughter of Magdalena Reyes & Jesus Ricardo Melendez from Storm Lake, Iowa. Her father has worked at Iowa Select Farms since September of 2015. He works as the assistant to the head leader of the farrowing department in SOW 31 located in Holstein.
