Congratulations to Kayla Flores on your Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leader Scholarship!
Kayla is a graduate of South Hamilton High School and is pursuing two Bachelor of Science degrees in Animal Science and Equine Management at Ellsworth Community College.
“I decided on my current career path through working with a difficult horse we got at home. I decided I loved the challenge and the connection I have with horses, and I decided that was the industry I wanted to go into,” explained Kayla. “I hope to focus on my equine management degree. I would love to work for a trainer and work in a breeding/foaling program. My big goal is to run my own training program and breed/sell my own horses as well.”
Kayla is the daughter of Jody and Eduardo Flores of Jewell, Iowa. Kayla was an intern during the summer of 2018 and worked part-time at Sow 01.
Kayla goes on to express, “I think Iowa Select Farms is an amazing company to work for. It is hard work but is also some of the most rewarding. In the farm/company it is like a huge family, and I love how everyone knows each other and treats them like their own family. Especially at my barn, I love how close-knit we are/how great of a team we are. Emotions and stress may run high some days, but at the end of the day I know they have my back, and I have theirs. I also love that the company itself gives back so much to their employees and the community as well.”
