With storms looming, we had to cut our trip to Creston short but were still able to deliver 2,040 pounds of fresh pork for community members in need!
According to Feeding America, there are 1,640 people in Union County who are food insecure, which is why local pantries play such a crucial role in the community ensuring that everyone receives nutritious meals, no matter their level of income.
"There is such a level of need here in our small community," said Mark O'Reilly of the Creston Area Food Bank. "We all work together to do the best that we can."
And speaking of working together, we still can't quite grasp how many volunteers came out to help our crew unload 20 cases of pork loins at the food bank located in the lower level of the O'Reilly Building.
Thanks to everyone for the support this evening! It certainly made our job much easier and spoke volumes for the amount of respect and teamwork there is within the Creston community. #HaulOutHunger #BillionPlus
