DMARC Receives the Gift of Meat Through Operation Christmas Meal

“We’ve seen an extraordinary amount of new people come to the
Des Moines Area Religious Council food pantry since the pandemic started, said Joe Dolack, operations manager for DMARC, and also the man who built the DMARC mobile food pantry program from its infancy.

“Meat is a luxury because it’s expensive and hard to come by,” said Joe. “The families will be super excited because it’s above and beyond what they are normally able to receive. We’re grateful.”

All of the pork donated by the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms will flow through their mobile pantry program, which just added 12 additional sites. Now serving over 1,800 individuals through 31 different locations, the mobile food pantry is providing over 10 percent of food the entire DMARC network supplies.
