Doug Smith Celebrates 15 Years of Service

Fondly known as the "pig whisperer" among his colleagues, Doug Smith is a valued Sow Farm Technician, celebrating 15 years as an Iowa Select Farms team member. From documenting daily check-ins to providing tender care and treatment to the animals, Doug is always ready to lend a helping hand wherever it is needed on the farm, "I love taking care of the sows," says Doug. His commitment to his work goes beyond the barns, as he also takes time to do his part in the farm's daily operations, like throwing in a load of laundry.
Throughout his years at Iowa Select Farms, Doug has cherished numerous memories, especially at the various employee recognition events held at Adventureland and the Iowa State Fair. One of his most treasured moments to date was when his team won the prestigious SelectPride award at the Sow 118 farm, "I was very proud of that," said Doug.
When Doug isn't busy working on the farm, he generously contributes his time and expertise to his uncle's farm work. Beyond his farming duties, Doug finds joy in his hobbies, particularly hunting and spending quality time with his wife of 45 years, Jo Beth, their three children, and three grandkids.
Doug's love for the animals and his work truly shines through his words and actions. Thank you, Doug, for giving us 15 years of your time and dedication. Here's to many more!
