Fighting Hunger in Grundy Center

“It’s great that we are able to send home Power Snack coupons over long weekends and holiday breaks,” said Cathy Stainbrook, Counselor at Grundy Center Elementary School. "It's reassuring to know, as teachers, that we have an impact on them outside of the classroom as well."

As farmers and pork producers, Jeff and Deb Hansen, owners of Iowa Select Farms, are passionate about assisting hunger-relief efforts, particularly those directed towards children. As part of their ongoing commitment to rural Iowa, the Hansen’s continue to direct Foundation efforts towards the communities where Iowa Select Farms employees work and live.

Over 10 days, employees of Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation are traveling to school districts, like Grundy Center, to give students and their families the opportunity to live a more nourished life. 400 Power Snack coupon booklets, valued at $8 each, have been left with Grundy Center Community Schools to help curb hunger in their community.
