Veterans Home

This Veteran’s Day, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms showed their appreciation for the service and sacrifice of some brave Iowans.

“We are able to share time with our families because of their service to our country,” said Jeff Hansen, founder of Iowa Select Farms. “While we can never fully repay them, I hope these donations allow veterans an opportunity to spend time with their loved ones.”

To bring fellowship to residents of the Iowa Veterans Home, the Foundation donated 20 boxes and 15 iPads. Due to COVID, visits have been restricted at the Iowa Veterans Home and with the addition of an iPad in each unit, veterans can reconnect with loved ones. Each iPad has a protective case and fun neoprene sleeve thanking the veterans for their service.

“Thank you does not seem to be enough words. We were overwhelmed with your generosity when your donation arrived” said Kristy Kelly, Nursing Supervisor. “Our veterans really long for a connection to their family, and these iPads will help make that happen.”

As winter weather comes in, we will all be forced inside more, so we added some fun games, puzzles, model cars and crafts to pass the time in the donation boxes. Along with cozy sweatpants and sweatshirts, we hope the winter months will be more comfortable for these selfless Iowans.
