Congratulations to Brittany Fopma on your Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leaders Scholarship! Brittany is a 2017 graduate of the Iowa Falls-Alden Community School District and is now studying Biology at Dordt College in Sioux Center. She is the daughter of Aaron Fopma and Dolette Flugard and a part-time employee of Iowa Select Farms at Stockdale Sow Farm (Sow 11). Her long-term goal is to attend medical school to become an anesthesiologist.

“This has been my third year working in the farrowing department at the farm,” she says, “and I love it.”

“Through my employment at Iowa Select Farms I have learned that I love to care for animals. I have also completed a Certified Nurses Aid course and had the experience of caring for people in assisted living homes. Because of these experiences, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career where I could help people get better and make a difference in their lives.”

“After attending medical school, I plan on working as an anesthesiologist,” Brittany says. “I will attain these goals by utilizing my work ethic and staying on task and focused. I have learned these skills through my time spent here.”

Brittany says she appreciates the feeling that everyone working for Iowa Select is like being part of a family, where everyone helps each other.

Her father, Aaron, is a sow supervisor and has been with Iowa Select Farms for 22 years.
