Congratulations to Dane Hubbell on your Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leaders Scholarship! Dane is a 2017 graduate of Pocahontas High School and is continuing his studies at Northeast Iowa Community College, focusing on Diesel Technology.

Dane is the son of Kirk and Katie Hubbell of Plover and a part-time employee of Iowa Select Farms and assumed responsibility for his own finishing farm at the age of 16. “All the things I have worked for and all the jobs I have made me who I am, and taught me that all hard work pays off.”

“Lots of things have inspired me to continue my education in agriculture,” Dane says. “I was 14-years-old when I first got introduced to Iowa Select Farms. My dad had picked up a few finishing farms around Plover and I would go out with him to help with whatever needed to be done.”

“As I got older and more farms in our area came open, I decided I wanted to take on my first finishing farm when I turned 16,” Dane recalls. “As time went on, I learned to love the job. I loved everything about it. Every single day doing chores, looking at your accomplishments and knowing your hard work paid off when it came time to market the pigs.”

“One of the many things I have learned at Iowa Select Farms is that all the things I have worked for and all the jobs I have made me who I am and taught me that all hard work pays off.”
