Future Ag Leaders Scholarship 2017-18 Recipient: Reece Rieken

Congratulations to Reece Rieken for being awarded an Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leaders Scholarship! A 2015 graduate of AGWSR (Ackley-Geneva-Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock) High School, Reece is currently a junior at Iowa State University pursuing an Ag Studies degree.

Reece says his goal following graduation is to find a job that will eventually allow him to return to the family farm and farm full-time with his father. “My inspiration for pursuing a career in agriculture started when I was very young,” he says. “Just helping out on the farm with my father and grandfather really got me fired up about agriculture.”

“Through learning as a child, to joining 4-H and starting to show swine, into my FFA program and now to Iowa State, my passion for agriculture has never stopped,” Reece says. “Short-term, I want to graduate from Iowa State and then find a job that will hopefully position me in the future for the opportunity to return to the farm with my father.”

Reece is the son of Ryan and Cathy Rieken of Ackley. Cathy is the Workers Compensation Administrator for Iowa Select Farms
