Madi“The welcoming and family environment at Iowa Select Farms keeps its employees, like my family, proud to be a part of something as great as pork production,” says Madi, a Future Ag Leader Scholarship Winner.

Madi has been involved with agriculture throughout her life on the family farm. She helped with chores, harvest and showed livestock while growing up. The benefits of a hard day’s work also included bonding with her dad while loading pigs. “Being involved directly with something that my dad is so passionate about meant the world to me,” she said. Her dad, Mitch is a contact finisher for Iowa Select Farms, and they live just outside of Latimer.

Madi is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Family Services at UNI. She chose this field because she wants to have an impact on her community and the families within it. Her passion for children and service began with her experiences in a small, rural town and working on the farm.

Madi’s favorite quote illustrates her consideration for people and the world around her. “Be the change you wish to see in the world,” resonates with her because she believes that “we can all change the world through little moments of being kind, honest and compassionate.” She is working hard both in and out of school to help the children and families that need assistance.  Throughout the classes and extracurricular activities that support her learning there is a girl who is striving to leave a lasting, positive impact on every person she meets.

“We all have the power within us to change our own world, but it’s up to every individual to do it,” says Madi. You have a bright future ahead of you, Madi!
