Gearing up for Operation Christmas Meal

posted on Wednesday, August 10, 2016

What does a rainbow, a Christmas tree and pork loins have in common? The Iowa State Fair parade, of course! After the sun finally overcame the thunderstorm a rainbow emerged and stretched over the Capitol to welcome thousands of parade-goers to downtown Des Moines.

We took the opportunity to don a Christmas tree costume and Santa hats to spread the word about Operation Christmas Meal-an event organized during the holiday by Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation.Held every December at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Operation Christmas Meal provides a free pork loin to families who don't have the means to offer a holiday dinner. Mark your calendars for this year's event! December 16, 2016.
