Grundy, Butler, Franklin and Cerro Gordo Counties Receive Power Snack

Our Power Snack deliveries are taking us to Grundy, Butler, Franklin and Cerro Gordo counties today! First stop? Timothy Christian School in Wellsburg!
25 students at Timothy Christian School will receive Power Snack deli ham and whole wheat bread coupons four times this school year. The $5 deli ham and $3 whole wheat bread coupons can be redeemed at any local grocery store or market. In total, the coupons provide kiddos with the food ingredients to make twelve nutritious meals (or "Power Snacks" as we like to call them!) at home.
In total, 550 at-risk students in Grundy County will receive Power Snack coupons and Pork Sticks.
Why do we call them Power Snacks? Well, when you combine the energy from the whole-wheat bread with the protein from deli ham, you get a delicious, but most importantly nutritious, meal.
Power Snacks provide essential nutrients needed for both physical and cognitive development.
In addition to Power Snack coupons, Timothy Christian School received 200 Pork Sticks, which are the perfect protein-packed snack for kids when hunger strikes.
With one in seven Iowa children facing food insecurity, Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation are fighting back with 1,000,000 ham sandwiches, 20,000 pork sticks and educational resources for teachers. These nutritious, protein-packed goodies are through the Foundation’s Power Snack program, which has been helping food-insecure Iowa children for eight years.
