Hansen Home for Hope Was a Busy Place in 2019

Located just minutes from Blank Children’s Hospital, the Hansen Home for Hope offers a place for families with children undergoing oncology treatments to gather for events, programs and numerous services for patients, parents and siblings. Hansen Home for Hope also provides a warm and welcoming space for families utilizing services and care at Blank Children’s Hospital to do laundry, take a shower, cook a meal and relax. The Foundation was honored to provide a capital donation of $250,000 to make the Hansen Home for Hope a reality.

In 2019, we continued our partnership by organizing two fun events at the Hansen Home for Hope in cooperation with the Children’s Cancer Connection. In August, the “Back-to- School Bash” featured games, crafts, food and free school supplies for kids. Families were treated to dinner and outdoor activities, fun raffles and fellowship. Kids got excited about school by participating in three “classes”— Art, English and Recess. At the end of the event, the families picked out their school and art supplies, all provided by the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation.

We took a break from Operation Christmas Meal to organize a Christmas party for nearly 100 children. The event allows parents of families undergoing cancer treatment an evening to shop for presents, enjoy a quiet dinner or run errands while their children enjoy pizza, crafts and bingo.

After singing Christmas carols, each child got to open a present for themselves and then wrapped up their crafts to present on Christmas morning!
