According to Feeding America, there are 1,640 people in Union County who are food insecure, which is why local pantries play such a crucial role in the community ensuring that everyone receives nutritious meals, no matter their level of income.
This year, Haul Out Hunger delivered 26 cases of pork loins to the community of Creston. In total, those loins will yield 5,616 servings of protein-packed pork.
“The unfortunate reality is that too many Iowans are in need, especially during the summer months. We hope the pork loins and supplies from Henry’s Heroes will bring some,” said Jeff Hansen, President and CEO of Iowa Select Farms and co-founder of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. “As farmers, we passionately believe in giving back to the communities where our employees and contractors live and work.”
Haul Out Hunger made stops at the First Presbyterian Church, Creston Area Food Pantry, Inc. and MATURA Action Union County.
