"Our clients have been so grateful for their boxes, just overwhelmed when we share them,” said Michelle De La Riva, Executive Director of Community & Family Resources of Fort Dodge.

Henry’s Heroes care packages were recently delivered to Community and Family Resources in Fort Dodge. CFR serves the rural areas of Ames, Boone, Clarion, Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Rockwell City and Webster City.

Their teams of counselors and specialists help individuals and families achieve healthy behaviors and lifestyles through advocacy, prevention and treatment of substance abuse, problem gambling and mental illness.

“We work with thousands of individuals throughout our eight counties, says Michelle. “Now we have a care package for those who have infants and small children, some of which we can even deliver into homes through our residential treatment program. The contents of the boxes will really help out these families during times of recovery.”

The Henry’s Heroes boxes were assembled with items donated by the families and friends of Iowa Select Farms, and packed by 50 children during a recent event. Items include diapers, wipes, children’s medicine, bottles, baby shampoo, baby wash, tissues, chapstick and warm hats and mittens.

Nearly 200 boxes are being delivered to rural shelters and crisis intervention groups by the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation through the end of the year.
