Honoring our Employee and Contractor Veterans: Meet Mike

Our Q4 SelectCare Excellence honorees are…our employee and contractor Veterans! We’re proud to honor and recognize their sacrifice to preserve our nation’s freedom. Stay tuned as we roll out a story on each individual, starting with our long-time manager, Mike Tate.

Mike enlisted in the US Army Reserves in his junior year of high school. Soon after, he advanced through basic combat training and then his Advanced Individual Training (AIT).

For eight years, he served as an active ready reservist, where he maintained his civilian life while training one weekend a month and two weeks per year. When active, he supported a communication unit as a truck driver transporting supplies between bases.

He joined Iowa Select Farms in 1999. Today, he’s the manager of Cartwright Sow Farm.
Mike will be the first to tell you he doesn’t like the spotlight, joining with many like him who wished to push attention away from themselves and onto those who fought on the front lines. “In my eyes, those who went into the battles of our foreign wars made the ultimate sacrifices for our country.”

In our eyes, he’s a Veteran hero. Mike, thank you for your service to our nation. Stay tuned, we have so many more to recognize.
