Ignite the Spirit a Success in Okoboji

posted on Thursday, December 23, 2021

Okoboji FFA members are doing good in their community with the help of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Ignite the Spirit program.

The students partnered with their local food bank in Dickinson County which is housed at Good News Community Church to hand out the loins provided by Iowa Select Farms and additional food items. The food was sorted into individual bags for families to take home. Last Saturday, December 18th the FFA members handed out 48 bags and loins to people in the Iowa Great Lakes as well as volunteering at the food bank.

We met these service minded FFA students when they picked up their pork loins and kits for the meals at the Storm Lake Operation Christmas Meal stop.

This FFA chapter is a participant in Operation Christmas Meal’s Ignite the Spirit program, aimed at supporting students who wish to help fight hunger, locally.

Ignite the Spirit is a program of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms and offers student FFA and 4-H organizations two cases of pork loins, a $250 check and kits so they can develop local partnerships and seek ways to help families in need. #IgniteTheSpirit
