Igniting the Spirit in Cherokee County

posted on Wednesday, December 22, 2021

We're so proud of Cherokee County 4-H and the Country Pioneers 4-H Club for making a big difference in the lives of 25 local families.

The two groups of 4-H members partnered together to participated in the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation's Ignite the Spirit Program, an extension of Operation Christmas Meal.

Ignite the Spirit offers student FFA and 4-H organizations two cases of pork loins and a $250 check to develop a project aimed at alleviating hunger, locally.

The 4-Hers worked together to make food baskets that were donated to families in both Buena Vista and Cherokee counties. In addition to including the ingredients needed to make a nutritious and delicious holiday meal (complete with and Iowa Select Farms pork loin, of course) the students also added their own unique twist to the project by including children’s books and educational information for families in the baskets.

Keep up the great teamwork and servant leadership members of Cherokee County 4-H and the Country Pioneers 4-H Club!
