It was another perfect day of sunshine, laughter and smiles at the Iowa State Fair with our employees, contractors and their families. With nearly half of our workforce in attendance, it was hard to walk around without bumping into a familiar face in a green Iowa Select Farms t-shirt.
"It's fun to see so many of our employees here having fun with their friends and family," said Adriana Hernandez, a sow farm manager at Iowa Select. “Other than Adventureland Days, we’re never all together like we are today. So it’s fun to take a break and enjoy this nice time together.”
After checking in at the Iowa Pork Tent, employees, contractors and their guests received $50 and a coupon booklet filled with goodies to enjoy throughout the day. From a free cup of watermelon and popcorn pig on a stick, to pork chop on a stick and a food or beverage from the Bud tent – the coupons provided endless amounts of food and fun.
“We stopped at the pork chop tent first thing this morning to avoid long lines,” said Adam Swalla, another sow farm manager at Iowa Select Farms. “It’s never too early for a pork chop dinner. The kids loved it and so did we!”
The sixth and final coupon was for an ice cream social which is always a highlight of the day. In between getting their faces painted and having fun with balloon animals, kids and adults alike could be found sitting down to enjoy a delicious scoop (or three!) of Bauder’s ice cream.
