Mark Appreciates Meaningful Family Experiences

“I really appreciate all the added benefits the company offers, like the meat giveaways, trips to Adventureland and Iowa State Fair days,” said Mark Hendricks, a finishing supervisor for Iowa Select Farms. “These meaningful and fun family experiences give us the opportunity to spend time with our families while also building relationships with our co-workers that go far beyond the workplace.”
Mark is talking about just a few of the many ways that Iowa Select Farms provides meaningful and memorable experiences for their employees and families. During his 12 years at Iowa Select Farms, he has taken his entire family – including all six of his grandchildren – to countless Iowa Select Days at Adventureland and the Iowa State Fair.
“My family and I have made many wonderful memories at these outings,” said Mark. “All six of my grandchildren and I (ok, and their moms and dads and my wife too) look forward to going every year.”
Finding unique and heartfelt ways to show gratitude to employees has grown into a time-honored tradition at Iowa Select Farms. As a way to say thank you for all their hard work and effort, Iowa Select Farms has treated employees, contractors and their families to a paid day off at Adventureland since 1997. A trip to the Iowa State Fair was added to the festivities in 2010 and has been a staple ever since.
In 2021, over 2,980 employees and family members attended the Iowa State Fair, each receiving $100 and a Family Fun Coupon Pack for free meals and treats. Employees also received a two hearty meat bundles, one in the spring and one just in time for the holidays, complete with pork loins, a ham, a turkey and bacon. Mark and his family are thankful for benefits like these.
When Mark isn’t working hard in his position as an award-winning finishing supervisor, he is fulfilling his favorite role – being a grandfather and spending time with his family. He is passionate about both his family and his job, so one of his favorite things is when his two worlds collide during the summer on the family experience days.
“We always enjoy the fun-filled day at Adventureland. One of the youngest grandkids recently wanted to know if we were going to get to go to the ‘Iowa Select Park’ this year,” he said, laughing. “And then there’s the state fair. Every year all the grandkids have their picture taken with the pink pig ears given out at the Animal Learning Center, and we have lots of pictures of the grandkids with their face paintings from the ice cream social.”
Getting to create these fun memories and traditions with his whole family wouldn’t be possible without Iowa Select Farms.
