“There are a lot of low-income families in this area and this donation is going to help a lot,” said Ronnel Schlapia, director of MATURA Ringgold County Outreach. “More importantly, it’s nutritious and wholesome, which really makes a difference since we are limited on the amount of food we’re able to provide families.”

According to Feeding America, there are 660 people in Ringgold County who are food insecure, meaning they are being forced to make tough decisions about providing food for their families or paying their rent/mortgage, paying for transportation or medical bills. “These are choices that no one should have to make,” said Ronnel. “Every little bit helps, and these pork loins will provide some much-needed relief for many families in this area.”'
