Congratulations to Sawyer Heitland on your Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leader Scholarship!
Sawyer is a graduate of AGWSR High school and is pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts with a future plan in Mechanical Engineering at Des Moines Area Community College.
“I decided on this career path because I have always been interested in learning the ways that things work and function,” explained Sawyer. “I hope to have a career at a manufacturing company designing new agricultural equipment. I want to have an impact on tomorrow's farming, and I hope to make it even more sustainable.”
He goes on to say, “Agriculture has had a huge impact on my life. I grew up in a farming household, so I have always had a big interest in farming and agriculture. It has helped me develop problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic. Agriculture influenced many of the classes I took in high school and it encouraged me to join FFA. Agriculture has had an impact on almost all aspects of my life.”
Sawyer is the son of Shawn and Amy Heitland of Aplington, Iowa. Sawyer shares “I feel that Iowa Select is a great company to work for because it provides so many jobs for the local community. It also has great benefits for families; providing tickets and meals to visit local Iowa attractions, like the Iowa State Fair and Adventureland. I also appreciate that they help out their employees and their families by providing this amazing scholarship!”
