Operation Threshold Community Action Agency

Over to Operation Threshold Community Action Agency where we talked with Janie Mason who serves the entire county of Grundy. Right now, Janie says it is just her running the pantry where they are open Monday through Friday. This creates quite a work load for Janie throughout the week.

“People can come in by appointment or walk-in and shop around the pantry,” said Janie. “We serve anywhere from 45 to 60 families a month and most of them use the pantry to supplement their Food Stamps.”

Janie says that she receives a lot of community support from Grundy County and many churches and schools generously host food drives along with the annual Post Office drive.

Our crew delivered 96 pork loins to the pantry. “Any other meat we get we have to buy from the Food Bank of Iowa, so we’re always so happy to get the pork donation from the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms,” said Janie.
