Pork Care Packages Distributed in Drive Through Grocery Pickup for Military and Veteran Families

The monthly Waffles for Warriors breakfast and grocery distribution event organized by Support Siouxland Soldiers was cancelled due to COVID-19, but that didn’t stop this amazing group from helping their community. The group improvised to organize a drive through grocery event, where pork coupon packs, courtesy of the Deb & Jeff Hansen Foundation at Iowa Select Farms, were distributed this month.

Food baskets were delivered to 82 individuals, providing food for nearly 300 Siouxland military and veteran family members.  Through a collaboration between the Foundation’s Project: Food and Fellowship and our Pork Care Package distribution, military and veteran families each received a coupon pack for $35 worth of fresh pork, ham, ribs and bacon.

“Each family was happy to receive the coupon packs” said Lori Risdal, Support Siouxland Soldiers volunteer. “Thank you for all you do for Iowa Military and Veteran families!”
