Power Snack 2022 Continues Deliveries at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School

“The benefits of this generous coupon distribution have been overwhelmingly well received,” shared Erin Halverson, School Nurse at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School. “The food insecurity in our rural area is profound and now only exacerbated by the rising costs of living.”

The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation delivered 600 coupons for deli ham and whole wheat bread to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School today, totaling 600 pounds of deli ham valued at $4,800 and 600 loaves of whole wheat bread valued at $1,800. There were even some students in the office who got excited upon our arrival!

“Parents and students alike are extremely thankful for the Power Snack coupons – they are a real difference maker in our school,” added Halverson. “The coupons have quite literally been the difference in many being able to eat consistently over the weekend and give student athletes a way to pack sandwiches to take to away events. Thank you to the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation!”

These comments remind us how important it is for students to receive a healthy meal and snack to supplement their growth, development and learning, and it is an honor to be able to support students and families in our Homegrown Iowa communities.

We know school faculty and parents alike do all they can to support their students and children, and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation is honored to be a small part of this support system. We hope the coupons and pork snack sticks help students have the energy to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
