“The PowerSnack program greatly benefits our children and families by allowing them to have a source of protein when the budget is tight,” said Ashley Hubbell, School Nurse at Pocahontas Area Elementary School. “Budgets are even more tight since the price of food has gone up. Families appreciate this very much.”

Even when prices are high, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation believes that all Iowans deserve to have a healthy and nutritious protein on their plates. The Foundation has a strong passion for providing hunger relief across our Homegrown Iowa communities, and we are proud to supply a protein that provides essential nutrients for kids to grow, develop and learn.

Pocahontas Elementary received 800 PowerSnack coupons today, and these coupons provide $8 for deli ham and $3 for a loaf of whole wheat bread. In total, these coupons are valued at $8,800. With the rising cost of living, we know this will supplement the grocery budget for many families and help children focus on their learning rather than hunger.
