Our final stop on Day 1 of Power Snack 2022 is at Coon Rapids-Bayard CSD.

“We include the pork snack sticks and Power Snack coupon booklets in our backpacks that go home weekly with students who are signed up for the program,” shared Danielle Willenborg, District Nurse at Coon Rapids-Bayard.

Although the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation understands the need for students and families to have a food source during extended breaks from school, we also understand the importance for students to have access to an immediate source of hunger relief during the school day.

The pork snack sticks were added to our Power Snack program a couple of years ago in order to supplement the deli ham and whole wheat bread coupons that are distributed to students four different times throughout the school year. The pork sticks are given to teachers to distribute to students throughout the school day who need a little extra boost to push them through that next lesson or activity.

$1,600 in deli ham coupons and $600 in whole wheat bread coupons were left at Coon Rapids-Bayard for students and families who are facing the burden of high costs at the grocery store.

The Foundation has a strong passion for providing Iowans with quality and nutritious protein to sustain their energy levels throughout the day. We hope this is exactly the boost students will feel as they indulge in these delicious ham and bread coupons.
