Madison with WBMCSD emp.“The Power Snack program provides opportunities for our families to go to the grocery store and get needed meat and bread to make meals,” said Amanda Schmidt, Administrative Assistant at West Bend Mallard Community School District. “This helps families have food in their homes to feed their children.”

Having healthy food accessible in the household provides a sense of comfort and relief for children and families. With the rising costs of food at the grocery store, The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation is honored to support families in our Homegrown Iowa communities to help supply them with the nutritious protein they deserve.

500 Power Snack coupons were delivered to West Bend-Mallard Community School District today, valued at $4,000 in deli ham and $1,500 in whole wheat bread. Ham is filled with plenty of nutrients to help young children sustain energy and power throughout the day, and the coupons are also helpful when we reach holidays and extended breaks from school. With Thanksgiving on the horizon, we look forward to the schools sharing the coupons with students in their population.
