"The Power Snack programs knocks down barriers for our students that are food insecure," said David Heinrichs, Superintendent of Lenox Community Schools. "It alleviates the worry students have about being hungry, both in and out of the classroom."
With 1 in 8 children facing food insecurity issues in Iowa, the Power Snack program hopes to relieve the stress that children face when they don't know where their next meal is coming from. Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and while a well-deserved break is in store for students across Iowa, many may not have consistent meals.
Each Power Snack coupon booklet contains a $5 coupon for deli ham and a $3 coupon for a loaf of whole wheat bread for students to easily purchase nutritious ingredients.
We'll be back on the road again tomorrow as we continue our Power Snack deliveries. Tune back in tomorrow morning to see where we are going next!
