In recognition of the Month of the Military Child, we are reminded of the sacrifices of littlest make when moms and dads are deployed.

Through a donation from the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Project: Food and Fellowship Program, we were able to help the volunteers at Siouxland Soldiers make 200 Deployment Dolls for children of deployed soldiers of the Iowa National Guard.

Each doll has a photo of their parent, allowing them to cuddle and cope with the emotions of separation. More recently, they made dolls for children of our deployed Airmen of the Iowa Air National Guard.

This is a program we’re honored to fund, and incredibly grateful to the volunteers who collect the photos, print the fabric and spend hours sewing so children can make that time apart from a parent a little easier.
