Today we had the opportunity to host the Student Social Forces, a group of 12 college students committed to helping grow and support the Real Pig Farming campaign. An effort through the National Pork Board,#RealPigFarming unites pig farmers, academics, youth, veterinarians and allied industry members to tell the story of how modern pork production really works.

From New Mexico and North Dakota to Iowa, North Carolina and Florida, this unique group of students stretches across the entire US and will have the opportunity to make a significant, positive impact on the pork industry in the coming year.

During their visit to Iowa Falls, the student advocates had the opportunity to tour our 4,500 head sow farm and learn first-hand from our employees in both breeding and farrowing departments about how we care for our pigs on a daily basis. From biosecurity and heard health to antibiotics, animal care and environmental concerns – we talked on a variety of topics affecting our industry and it was obvious that these students are committed to learning as much as possible as they embark on a year of service with #RealPigFarming.

We appreciate that the Student Social Forces chose to start their journey with us, and learn about our production system as we work towards our#BillionPounds goal. We wish them nothing but the best in the coming year and are excited to follow along as they share their unique stories and experiences about #RealPigFarming.
