“I want to say how grateful I am to have this scholarship,” said Salvador Fregoso, who has been a recipient of a Future Ag Leaders Scholarship for the past two years. “Without this scholarship, my last year at Iowa State would have been full of financial stress! The offering of this scholarship is a pure and genuine deed by Iowa Select Farms; it’s not a requirement to help the children of their employees, but they do it anyways. I am happy and grateful to have this opportunity to pursue my academic goals.”

Salvador is currently a student at Iowa State University majoring in agricultural studies. His mother, Rosalba Reyes, is an Iowa Select Farms employee who works in the farrowing department at Sow 9. She shares her passion for pigs with Salvador who has worked in the swine industry since high school to help his family financially and develop his knowledge of the field. When he graduates this spring, he plans to follow in his mother’s footsteps and work for Iowa Select Farms.

“After graduating, I will be remaining in Ames, and can gladly say that I have accepted a full-time position with Iowa Select Farms as a wean to finish supervisor,” said Salvador. “I am looking forward to being a part of Iowa Select Farms this May!”

Joining the Iowa Select Farms team after graduation was an easy decision for Salvador because he had already seen firsthand just how much Iowa Select Farms cares for their employees.

“Iowa Select Farms means a lot to my family and I,” he said. “The Iowa Select Farms scholarship had a huge impact on my college experience, but even more than that the company provides special things for their employees and families that leave a positive impact which goes to show the care and support Iowa Select has to offer. Plus, they provide the best pork produce out there!”
