Santa Helps Ignite the Spirit at Ridge View Schools
Kudos to Ridge View Schools for knocking their Ignite the Spirit opportunity out of the park!
This group was one of almost 50 student-based organizations participating in the Ignite the Spirit program offered by Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation.
Ridge View students worked together to prepare a holiday meal for over 600 members of the school district. The meal consisted of an Iowa Select Farms pork loin, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, corn, dinner roll, cookies and bread pudding. The meals were served in the elementary lunchroom where people could stop in and eat or take their meals to go. The event also included a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus who handed out candy canes and took pictures with attendees.
Ignite the Spirit is an extension of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Operation Christmas Meal program and is aimed at increasing awareness of hunger locally and igniting the spirit of service by giving local student groups the tools—pork!—to help even more families during the holiday season.
As part of the program, FFA chapters and 4-H clubs also receive event kits with aprons along with a check for $250 to purchase additional food for the meal.
Keep up the good work Ridge View Schools!
