Throughout the upcoming weeks, we will be highlighting our amazing summer interns.
Our first profile features Landen, a finishing supervisor intern from Tripoli, Iowa. Landen graduated from Kirkwood Community College this spring with a degree in Agriculture Production Management that he is now applying to real-world experiences in his internship.
“I’m excited to continue seeing the ins and outs of the finishing side of swine production at Iowa Select Farms,” he said. “I hope to gain as much knowledge from my supervisor as I can this summer.”
As a finishing intern, Landen assists in overseeing pig care and farm operations at multiple sites and makes sure growers have the supplies they need to properly raise their pigs. He has also been learning about the market process and how to recognize when pigs reach the proper size. Landen describes a supportive atmosphere that makes all that possible.
“I may have had some prior knowledge of the swine industry before starting, but everyone here is very willing to teach and guide people just starting out,” he said. “I also like the fact that Iowa Select Farms has opportunities in multiple locations, so position possibilities are endless.”
We’re wishing you the best during the rest of your internship, Landen. Keep up the great work!
