Three Groups Team Up to Ignite the Spirit
posted on Wednesday, December 22, 2021
We were so excited to see three outstanding community-based youth groups, Westside 4-H Club, Ar-We-Va National Honor Society and Ar-We-Va Student Council/Booster, come together to make a difference in their communities.
These groups were a few of the almost 50 student-based organizations that participated in the Ignite the Spirit program offered by Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation.
Students representing all three organizations put together family meal packages consisting of a pork loin, canned vegetables, instant potatoes, stuffing and canned fruit. They then planned and held a drive through giveaway to distribute the packages to those in the community in need of a holiday meal.
Ignite the Spirit is an extension of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Operation Christmas Meal program and is aimed at increasing awareness of hunger locally and igniting the spirit of service by giving local student groups the tools—pork!—to help even more families during the holiday season.
As part of the program, FFA chapters and 4-H clubs also receive event kits with aprons along with a check for $250 to purchase additional food for the meal.
Way to go, Westside 4-H Club, Ar-We-Va National Honor Society and Ar-We-Va Student Council/Booster!
