We want to honor our employee, Jamie Bouzigard, for her service to our country!
Motivated to serve her country after 9/11, she enlisted in the US Army after high school.
Basic training took her to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, on September 11, 2003, then onto her AIT, where she specialized in diesel wheeled vehicle mechanics. She worked on all the diesel vehicles during her active duty and on deployment, but Humvees were her favorite as they were “more her size.”
During her service, she deployed to Korea in the 8th Army Garrison out of Fort Bliss, Texas and later to Iraq, where she was located at Al Asad Air Base as a member of the 1218 Transportation unit. While in Iraq, she was a mechanic on base and had a two weeklong mission outside the wire (military term for enemy action).
Jamie was honorably discharged in 2010. During her six years of service, she earned an Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Korean Defense Service Medal, amongst others.
She’s been with Iowa Select Farms for eight years. First in the nurseries, then over to Lettow finisher and several others for over four years as an animal caretaker. Today, she’s the assistant farrowing manager and Day 1 Lead at Stockdale Sow Farm. She's one of several employees and contractors being recognized with the SelectCare Excellence Award for her service and sacrifice.
Thank you, Jamie, for your service to our country and for defending our nation’s freedom.
