Wow—Webster City FFA prepared and served 350 meals to people in need, an astounding effort led by a small group of ag students.

wcLast night, this group of thoughtful and giving students pulled off a socially-distanced, drive-through-and-pick-up-a-meal event for local families after planning and promoting the event to their two local food pantries, UDMO in Hamilton County and their school’s foodservice, which helps at-risk families within the school system.

Webster City FFA was one of 40 student-based organizations that applied for the Ignite the Spirit program offered by Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation.

Ignite the Spirit is an extension of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Operation Christmas Meal program and is aimed at increasing awareness of hunger locally and igniting the spirit of service by giving local student groups the tools—pork!—to help even more families during the holiday season.

wcThis year, nearly 40 FFA, 4-H and school-based organizations received two cases of pork loins and $250 to prepare a meal for families in need or organize food baskets to distribute. #IgniteTheSpirit
