West Hancock

Thanks to West Hancock High School Principal, Dan Peterson, for helping get Power Snack deli ham and whole wheat bread coupons and Pork Sticks into the hands of students in-need. This year, we delivered 1,200 coupons and 200 Pork Sticks for at-risk students in Britt.

A program of Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation, Power Snack provides the ingredients for food insecure children to make their own “Power Snacks”—nutritious ham sandwiches made out of deli ham and whole wheat bread—at home.

Since 2014, Power Snack has supported 705 at-risk students in Hancock County with 33,840 ham sandwiches, a contribution valued at $22,560.

The coupons will also be available at the Britt Food Pantry and can be redeemed at any local grocery store or market. Each booklet contains a $5 coupon for deli ham and $3 coupon for loaf of whole wheat or whole grain brain.

Power Snack coupon booklets come equipped with a Protein Power! booklet filled with easy recipes, such as how to make the perfect ham sandwich, scrambled eggs and ham, grilled ham and cheese, ham wraps, ham pizza snacks and ham, cheese and crackers. Kids love them because they’re delicious, we love them because they’re nutritious!
