Project: Food and Fellowship supports fellowship in Iowa's Military community

The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation holds a deep belief that food brings people together. Designed to create memorable and enriching social experiences for Iowa military families, the Project: Food and Fellowship program offers micro-grants for military and veteran organizations seeking financial support. 

Project Food and Fellowship assists family readiness coordinators, military community volunteers and event coordinators with creating and hosting social gatherings for active duty, reservists, veterans, Gold Star families and all military families.

In 2025, over $80,000 was awarded throughout the year. Examples of groups that received funds include troops of the Iowa Army National Guard, the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, the 132nd Air Fighter Wing in Des Moines, American Legions, County Veterans Affairs Offices, and veteran groups focused on bringing Iowa’s veteran community together. Projects that were supported in 2025 included military balls and dances, holiday parties, resource fairs, and grill-outs.
